ALL ABOUT MUSIC SHED BIG BAND

This 20 piece Big Band was formed in February 2018 by a very accomplished musician Geoff Dickie who wanted to bring back together semi – retired professional musicians to keep the sound of the Big Bands alive. Semi-retired, in this case means musicians who come from all walks of life and retired from their “day jobs” but can never leave playing live music. With a combined experience base of nearly 900 years, these guys know how to thrill crowds with the sounds of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Stan Getz and many more favourites from the big band era as well as contemporary arts such Blood Sweat and Tears, Earth Wind and Fire and Chicago .

Adding to this fabulous experience, the vocalists croon with a sound reminiscent of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joe Williams, Michael Buble' and many more.

Music Shed Big Band not only thrills the mature audiences but also astonishes the younger people with a sound that they have never heard. When asked at a concert why a table of young people were still sitting there, they answered, “we have never heard such powerful music”.

GEOFF DICKIE

Band Leader

Geoff has had an extensive music career incorporating orchestras, concert bands, stage bands, service bands and smaller saxophone and clarinet combo's.
Trained classically in reed and woodwind instruments, he features on Baritone saxophone in Music Shed Big Band and is able to cover the Alto and Tenor sax and clarinet chairs.
The concept of MSBB was born from his desire to keep big bands like Glenn Miller popular and playing live to audiences of all ages.
Geoff is also a very well respected conductor and music tutor at schools and with private students.
